Every one of us has different times of the day in which our bodies functions at its best.  For a lot of people that time is bright and early in the morning and there is a reason for this: studies have shown that when we work out first thing in the morning it leads to consistency, weight loss and better sleep at night.

There are many reasons why people choose to workout first thing in the morning:

Some do a two hour work-out per day, etc. 1 hour cardio exercises and 1 hour strength training and find that dividing their routine between the morning and evening works well for them, especially if they have to put in a full day at the office as well.

To work out early in the morning is a great way in which to get your metabolism going! You have probably noticed that you are hungry after a work-out. That is because you have burned lots of calories and when you burn the calories early in the morning and replenish it right away, you’re body gets the message that this is how the rest of the day is going to be:  burn/replenish ……

  4. Reward yourself – with something as simple as watching a favourite TV show, getting a manicure or treating yourself to a massage – but only if you have been good and went to the gym that morning/the whole week.
  5. Be consistent in your wake-up time. Avoid “sleeping in” at weekends because it messes with your body’s internal clock.

 

The most important thing is – even if you still struggle to get up early in the morning – DON’T give up! Be consistent and very soon you will also be the early bird that catches the worm!
